About
My name is Yeilyn Tejada, I am 16 years old and a junior at Central Park East High School. I was born in the Dominican Republic and was given the opportunity to come to the United States to get a better education. I partake in programs that enhance my leaderships skills and give me opportunities to continue to grow into the young independent women that I am and will be. Through these programs, I have also come to discover that I have a passion for writing and helping/serving those in need. One day, I hope to use the skills and knowledge that I have accumulated over the years to give back to my community.
What I’m Raising Money For
This summer I will be attending a college prep program, an opportunity not granted to many students in my position. I will be taking college level courses and living on campus, which will allow me to experience college before actually going to college. This experience will allow me to test my independence and help me get out of my comfort zone. Not only that, but I will connect with more people, even people outside of the country, which will expand my network and provide me with more insight in different cultures and personalities. The money raised will ensure that I, and my peers, get that enriching summer that we all deserve.
Why You Should Give
I will be taking part in an excellent enrichment program and if I meet my collective goal, the financial obligations that can't be covered on my own will be covered. Many students of color or minorities in general do not get opportunities as these, so it will be one I will cherish. The money you give will give me a chance to grow as an individual, allow me to a experience a new environment, and challenge myself.
