About
Hello my name is Jessie Nunoo and I am a junior at A Philip Randolph Campus High School. On my free time, I enjoy reading fictional novels and writing spoken word poems. I also enjoy learning about English, history, and science. During the week, I attend two programs: Sponsors for Educational Opportunity- an academic program, and Employment and Technology Center- a holistic program.
What I’m Raising Money For
This summer, I will have the opportunity to travel to Hungary, where I will discuss issues related to refugees in Europe. I will also be able to engage with some of Hungary's relief efforts. As a way of giving back, I will get chance to lead the children of the refugee camps in a project where they engage in creative writing. While most of the costs will be covered, there are expenses that still need to be paid. All contributions will go towards these left over expenses.
Why You Should Give
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I want to take advantage of it. Going on this enrichment program will expose me to a different culture all the while allowing me to engage in community service. By the end of this trip, I am hoping to get a better understanding of the issues we face as humans. I also want to build relationships with those in the refugee camps, and use their stories as inspiration for my own creative writing.
