About
Hello everyone, my name is Bianny De La Cruz and I am a junior at the Laboratory School of Finance and Technology. I am the oldest of five siblings and I will be a first-generation college student next year. Aside from school, I have a job and I am a part of a program called Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) where I take classes on Saturdays and Thursdays after school to prepare me for my SATs and get me into the college of my choice. I am a fan of anything taco and ice cream related in addition to being a curly hair enthusiast. Family and friends, I am pleased to announce that I will participate in a program this summer in Mexico with your help and support!
What I’m Raising Money For
With the help and guidance of SEO, I have been selected to participate in an international summer program where I will study the cuisine, geography, and culture of Mexico for three weeks. I have lived in New York City for the entirety of my life so I am accustomed to the urban life. Disconnecting from the fast-paced life that NYC consists of will push me outside of my comfort and enable me to fully immerse myself in another culture. Unfortunately, the contributions of my parents and my program are not enough to cover the cost for me to be able to attend.
Why You Should Give
This is an amazing opportunity that I will only get once in a lifetime. I have been working diligently in school all year round, from helping facilitate an after-school program for middle school children to studying long hours for my SATs. Through these activities, I have learned more about myself than ever before, and attending this program will only push me further in that direction. It I will be put in a position to explore another ambient and lifestyle, while also allowing myself to flourish mentally and emotionally. This experience will give me the opportunity to understand what life is like for the citizens of Mexico in addition to making me culturally competent.
