Hi!
My name is Jessica Gonzalez and I am a junior at BASE (Brooklyn Academy of Science and the Environment)
I really drawing, listening to music and reading books in my spare time. Drawing, however, is my favorite hobby because I love the feeling of freedom and detachment from reality I get from putting my ideas onto a blank piece of paper.
Outside of school and my hobbies, I am also a proud member of the SEO community. SEO (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity) is an eight-year program dedicated to helping low-income high school students attend the college of their dreams.

I hope after hearing my story you would be compelled to fund my goal!

What I’m Raising Money For

Ever since early youth, I have always been fascinated with Asian culture. The fast-growing economic giants brewing in the far east have always caught my attention, their constant innovation that always competes with the west always made it my dream goal to study these giants up close. To learn their language and culture and what makes them so fierce in the global market. This summer I have been given the wonderful opportunity to travel abroad to South Korea to study its language and culture. During my time there, I will go to a Korean school, study with Korean students, and also stay with a host family to completely immerse myself in Korean culture and mannerisms.

Why You Should Give

The money raised will help pay for the expenses needed to send me abroad. After this experience, I will have gained valuable skills in language, culture, reading/writing and communication skills. It will also be a great contributing factor in making my college application stand out to my preferred colleges, and help me achieve my carrier goals in the far future!
