About
My name is Timothy Atkinson and I am currently a junior at the High School for Environmental Studies. I enjoy reading and collecting manga, learning to play tennis, and critically analyzing movies. In my freshman year of high school, I applied and was accepted into a program called SEO (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity). SEO has been helping me with academic enrichment in math, reading and writing every Saturday, one day out of the week and during the summer. It is to prepare me for the rigor of college and for me to get accepted into a 4 year college.
What I’m Raising Money For
At the end of my junior year, which will be the summer of 2018, I will have the opportunity to experience an enrichment program with the American Prairie Reserve located in Montana. I've been nominated to have this opportunity based on the work I have been accomplishing at SEO and because of my demonstrated leadership and collaborative efforts with my peers. SEO supports many educational opportunities for hundreds of teens, but there is a cost. One way scholars get involved and take ownership of their summer experience is to get involved in fundraising and to gain a deep appreciation and understanding for all the work that goes in to supporting such a great program. Your kind contribution will cover the cost of transportation, camping gear, and tuition for this 12 day once of a lifetime experience.
Why You Should Give
Your contribution will help this city kid experience the outdoors and get me out of my comfort zone. It will allow me to experience nature and learn what it takes to keep an ecosystem thriving. Experiential learning is important for college success and this will give me a head start!
