About

My name is Amanda Dhanai. I am 16 years old, and a junior at the Bronx Center for Science and Mathematics high school. I am also participating in the SEO Scholars program, where I was nominated for a summer travel program for my hard work and dedication.

What I’m Raising Money For

I am raising money for a travel program this summer in Egypt. During this trip, I will be exploring the Islamic culture, and learning how to speak and write in arabic. Also, I will be learning about US Global affairs with countries like Egypt. Not only will your contribution be benefitting me, but it will also help open up more opportunities for my my fellow scholars in the SEO program.

Why You Should Give

Now in a time where islamophobia is so common in our country, I feel it is my responsibility to take the opportunity to travel to a country like Egypt, to get a better understanding of the culture, and how it is different from the stereotypes placed in the United States. I feel that being able to go to such a historically significant country will truly change the person I am and the way I think. I am hoping to gain a sense of responsibility and knowledge on how other countries are so different from my own. I believe it will be a great experience to see how the lifestyle of one, is completely different than mine. By you helping me fundraise, it will allow me to learn all of these life lessons and to go outside of my comfort zone while also broadening my knowledge of today's world. Thank you so much!
