About
Hi, my name is Joelisse Then, I am a junior at Bronx Leadership Academy 2 High school. I am very active in my school. I play rugby and volleyball. I am currently the captain of my schools volleyball team. I help cultivate a strong relationship within the team. I am also president of student council. Moeover, I am very active in my community through a program called build On. Helping out my community in any way I can gives meaning to my being and also helps me be a positive role model to the kids in my community. Lastly I am an SEO Scholar, an eight year program that helps low income students get to and through college, has helped me not only academically, but they also helped me get out of my comfort zone, and advocate for myself and those around me.
What I’m Raising Money For
I have the amazing opportunity to attend a pre college program in Missouri. A pre-college summer program offers high school students the opportunity to take classes at a college and experience college life during the summer. In this pre college program I will be taking Philosophy,However, in order to participate I need to reach a fundraising goal of 300.
Why You Should Give
You should donate because it will challenge me to step outside my social comfort zone. I want to immerse myself in the college community and develop relationships with people I've never met who come from a different state or country. Cultivating these relationships will help me understand what campus life is really like and inform my decision about which college I want to attend. Meeting people of different backgrounds will also broaden my social circle and help me become a more open-minded person.
