About
My name is Lisadine Cherubin and I go to Brooklyn College Academy. I am a junior who's currently enrolled in an after-school program called SEO Scholars. The purpose of SEO is to help low-income students get into their dream college through hard work and determination. The students also develop essential skills to become successful. In my spare time, I enjoy singing in church with my sister and playing two instruments: the piano and violin. I am the manager of my school's dance team. On Sundays, I do community service at my church through food pantry or being the Sunday school assistant. These activities help me develop leadership skills and ways to keep me connected with my community.
What I’m Raising Money For
The money raised will support me in my educational Summer Travel Abroad program that will last for four weeks in Spain. I will be exploring the culture of Spain through their music, art, and dance. I will also be able to widen my leadership skills, step out of my comfort zone, and learn about issues present there. Your contribution and support will go towards my airfare, housing and other miscellaneous requirements for my trip.
Why You Should Give
I always had a love for performing arts and was always interested in the ways people express themselves to show who they are. I will now get an insight on global issues present in Spain and be apart of step by step solutions to those problems. Spain's use of music, art and dance corrlate with human rights and national identity, which are two important things in every country. I will be able to get a first hand experience of beautiful landscapes and culture. When I come back from the trip, I can inform people about Spain by correcting them on racist remarks made, microaggressions said, or giving them a better perspective besides what the internet offers.
