About

My name is Gerardo Hernandez. I am a current junior at Bronx Leadership Academy II High School (BLA2) and I am interested in STEM specifically engineering/mathematics. I enjoy taking pictures for my photography club and the different analyzation of the image. I also enjoy tackling math problems and learning from different interpretations and methods. Though I am limited to the resources provided for me at school, this will be an opportunity for me to branch out and seek different ways in which I may pursue my passion.

What I’m Raising Money For

I am raising money for an immersive 5-week pre-college program, which will give me the opportunity to expose myself to rigorous college courses. I will also be a first-generation college student in my family. It is an opportunity for me to explore outside an urban area, work with a professional, and adapt to being away from home.

Why You Should Give

I am going to be a first-generation college student, so attending the pre-college program will expose me to a college education which I am interested in pursuing as it will accumulate my understanding of the daily life of a college student. In order to succeed I am going to need a college education so I may pursue my passion in engineering/computer science. Also, I go to a South Bronx High School which hinders my progression in pursuing difficult courses, and I want to experience elevated difficult courses to push me forward.
