About
Hi my name is Assetou Soumbounou! Since I love being center stage, I am impossible to miss. Making an impression is very important to me and when you consider my personal magnetism, you see the job is quite easy. I am very ambitious, and this strength allows me to accomplish a great deal. The fact that I am also creative makes my endeavors fun for me and everyone else. I never shy away from the limelight. I am also supremely talented and have a flair for the dramatic. Warmth and enthusiasm seems to seep from every one of my pores, which in my opinion makes me a pleasure to be around.
What I’m Raising Money For
The saying goes "The world is your classroom". Well this summer Japan will be my classroom. I will be getting the opportunity of a lifetime to immerse in the Japanese culture and exploring all the country has to offer. While there I will be practicing survival language skills with Japanese volunteers, explore the Sensoji temple in Asakusa and visit the iconic Tsukiji fish market. Learn about Japan’s geography, ecology and the important relationship between food and sustainability with local experts. Journey south to the ancient city of Kyoto to learn about Zen Buddhism and Washoku. Meet with a sushi master, practice Zen meditation and prepare traditional meals with fresh ingredients from local markets. Then travel to Hokkaido to learn more about environmental preservation from indigenous Ainu experts. Living for a few days with a local family in the small town of Tobetsu. Your contribution will cover the cost of transportation, textbooks, camping gear, tuition, etc.

These Enrichment Programs are a chance for Scholars to leave their comfort zone, and ultimately help them build confidence, independence, and college-readiness! By lending your financial support, these Scholars will have access to the experience of a lifetime that they could not otherwise access. I am so looking forward to going to Japan this summer. I have never been so far away from home without my parents, and this trip will give me a chance to finally be independent. I will learn how to be okay with not being with my parents. I will also learn about the rich culture of Japan. When will I get another chance to travel to Japan? Exactly, please help me to reach my goal.
