About
My name is Muhammad Arsam and currently, I’m a junior in High School for Youth and Community Development. My career interests include neuroscience, applied mathematics, and psychology.
What I’m Raising Money For
Two years ago, I moved to the United States with my family, with the dream of living an American lifestyle and an expectation to pursue a prosperous future. In the beginning, the transition was rough but I learned how to adjust over time. Today, I am proud to inform you that I am going to a prestigious University this summer where I will be studying neuroscience and discovering my natural passion for theoretical mathematics. As an immigrant, as a person who is still learning how to speak proper English, as someone who is aspired to improve the living conditions of his family, I don’t think that I could ever ask for something bigger than this life experience as a college student. Presently, I have gotten a full scholarship for my courses and housing, but I want to take this opportunity to request any funds that you could donate to my traveling and other expenses. My current goal is to raise $300, so even if you could give $10 that would get me one step closer to the future that I, my parents, and everyone that is close to my heart, see for me.
Why You Should Give
Ever since I was a child, I have always been fascinated with an off-white lab coat, plastic stethoscope, and colorful tablets. I was one of those kids who always asked for a doctor kit as a present on my birthday. As I grew up, my passion for the field of medicine increased profoundly and I soon dreamt about a badge with “Mr. Shaikh" on it. My passion became my central focus when I discovered about the healthcare disparities that are racially ingrained in our society. I was shocked when I found out that people don’t have access to quality healthcare and insurance coverages just because of their skin color, just because of their financial status, just because of their fictitious differences. When I zoomed out and looked at Pakistan, I noticed that people over there are in a much worse condition. Child deaths in Thar, the outbreak of polio, and catastrophic heat wave in 2015 witnessed how the most integral aspect of well being like health was neglected by the Pakistani government. I was dispirited. Aren’t humans supposed to praise humanity? Doesn’t humanity come before all the differences? But, then I told myself that if we don’t take an initiative about addressing these points in the society today, we would never be able to eradicate these issues. Therefore, I changed my passion for pursuing a medical field into a career interest and look forward to studying about it in depth in my pre-college program this summer. And your financial support will help me live my passion and do as much work as I can for humanity. Thank you so much for your support.
