About

My name is Andoni Nolasco, I am currently attending Information Technology High School in Queens. I am Mexican-American whose parents immigrated from Mexico hoping for a better life. I took the opportunity they created and joined Sponsors for Educational Opportunity(SEO), a nonprofit program intent with helping low-income students become top candidates for prestigious colleges.
Besides the academic side, I am quite a normal student, I enjoy playing sports such as handball or volleyball in my free time. Exploring new cultures has also been a hobby of mine because it is a way of expanding my view of the world outside of the United States.

What I’m Raising Money For

As part of my junior year at SEO, I am going to participate in an Enrichment Program this summer where I will be traveling abroad to South Korea for six weeks. My time in South Korea will be spent learning the language and other aspects of Korean culture such as the food and lifestyle. This opportunity is a great chance to step out of my comfort zone as I will be across the global in a country I have never been to before and around people who look nothing like myself. However, like most great things in life, this travel abroad program is not free.

Your contribution will cover the cost of transportation, tuition, etc.

Why You Should Give

I will be the first among my family to attend college, so this travel abroad program is a great chance to prepare for college life. In Korea, I will be completely independent and treated as a college student. It is also a great experience to explore and live in a new country as it will give me a new perspective on how the people outside of the U.S. live.
As much as I hate to say this, my high school doesn't adequately prepare me to become a top candidate for college. This program will my a great addition to my college application while at the same time teaching me new skills such as learning how to speak a new language.
