About
Hello, my name is Taaliya Holliday and I am currently a junior at The Young Women's Leadership School of Brooklyn. I participate in a number of programs in and associated with my school such as photography club, LOVE mentoring, an advice program, Sponsors for Educational opportunity, an 8 year academic program dedicated to helping minorities succeed, and many others. My academic interests consists of STEM and humanities,I love computer science and psychology. My passions for both subjects have led me to places like the Girls Advancing in STEM conference where I was able to network with other women who are making big waves in the tech world and being a peer mediator in my school, meaning I offered advice when conflict arrose in my school. My intrests outside of school consists of Netflix, watching funny and lifestyle Youtube videos, playing the guitar and piano, and listening to music. My goal is to in the future combine my love for STEM and psychology to create my perfect career and be really happy.
What I’m Raising Money For
I am looking to raise money to attend Brown University this summer for a three week course entitled ' Personality and What Makes Us Who We Are'. This opportunity to study at Brown came from the guidance of SEO after they nominated me and gave me amazing assistance in applying to Summer at Brown. Now that I have gotten accepted to Brown, with a Dean's Scholarship, I am so excited and nervous, in a good way, about my future studies. At Brown I will be able to further discover and explore my passion for psychology and be able to experience a culture that is different from the one I am currently living in which brings the excitement and nerves. At Brown this summer I will also have the opportunity to experience what my life will be like when I go to college by living on a campus, eating campus food, meeting people from all around the world, and being mostly in charge of my day. I am so excited to grow as a person at Brown by getting out of my comfot zone and just having the most amazing time in my life so far.
Why You Should Give
Any donation ,no matter the size, would be greatly appreciated to help my peers and I do great things this summer. My peers and I have the opportunity to go to places like Brown Uiversity, Italy, Ghana, and do internships and other experiental programs that will only shape us into better people. These opportunities will be amazing and fullfilling opportunites that will grow and better us as people, but inorder for that to happen we need donations to help with things like travel expenses.
