About
My name is Diasia Drummond. I am 16 years old and I was born and raised in the Bronx. This summer I am being provided the opportunity to travel abroad. In school, I was apart of a research club that was based on science but I enjoyed researching many different topics, specifically current events. I enjoy staying updated on current events, not only in my own state, but other states or places outside of America.
What I’m Raising Money For
I attend a program called SEO which stands for Seizing Every Opportunity. I started this program in the 9th grade and will continue to be apart of this program until I graduate college. SEO preps us for the SAT's so we can get the highest score possible. To prepare for the SAT's, scholars take 720+ hours of rigorous SAT prep and take multiple practice SAT's in junior year. Besides doing SAT prep, SEO provides each scholar with an enrichment program(EP). The variety of EP's SEO offers are academic programs, internships, experiential opportunities, and travel abroad.
Why You Should Give
SEO specifically targets low-income students who have the potential to be very successful when given the proper support. These are students who would not be able to participate in these experiences without the support of SEO. This experience would be great for low-income students, such as myself, to be able to make a larger impact on the world with the new found education they acquire by visiting other countries. Education is not solely academic but also experiential. Students in this generation are not provided with many opportunities to learn about the world beyond a classroom.
