About

My name is Aaliyah Jupiter, but most people call me Jupiter. I am currently a junior at Brooklyn College Academy. I am apart of a program known as SEO Scholars, which gives scholarly opportunities to low-income students in urban areas. I enjoy listening to Hip-Hop, R&B, and Gospel. Writing poems, raps, and playing basketball are fun hobbies I love to take part in on my free-time. I'm interested in becoming a journalist because I have always wanted to travel the world and be able to tell people's stories.

What I’m Raising Money For

For this summer, I will be traveling to Nepal as part of an enrichment program through SEO Scholars. I will be gaining international volunteer experience. Based on what group I am placed in, I could be doing activities ranging from building tanks for drinking water, renovating schools, or improving sanitation facilities to providing support and resources to Tibetan refugees who have left China due to persecution.

Why You Should Give

This enrichment program will help me step out of my comfort zone, grow positively as a person and receive a new perspective on the world. I will be learning more about people and their cultures, so that I could expand my knowledge to better understand different people. I will also be exposed to social and political challenges in another country that will build my character.
