About

My name is Kimberley Castano and I am a junior at the Scholars' Academy in Rockaway, Queens. Being from New York City has always intrigued me to learn more about the different cultures I have been exposed to. Two of my passions are trying new things and learning about history, and this trip offered to me by SEO Scholars is a perfect mixture of two of my passions.

What I’m Raising Money For

This summer I've been given the opportunity to travel abroad to China! There I will be traveling to Beijing, and deepen my understanding of China’s history through visits to important cultural sites such as Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, and the Great Wall. I will also be staying with a host family for some portion of my trip. Those are a few things that I will be doing this summer. I have never been so excited and scared in my life to be traveling. I would truly appreciate your contribution it would cover the cost of transportation and my daily activities in China!

Why You Should Give

Traveling to China will push me outside of my comfort zone and in result preparing me for the rest of my life. In college I am going to be surrounded by a lot of people who are different than me and going on a trip likes this would be perfect in helping me become very appreciative of people who are unlike me. I am so thrilled to finally have the chance to taste authentic Chinese food and not just what I have been exposed to in NYC.
