About
My name is Nery Rodriguez. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela; my family immigrated to the United States when I was five years old. I currently live in Bedford-Stuyvesant with my dad and my brother and am a current junior at the Brooklyn School for Math and Research. I participate in SEO Scholars, an extensive eight-year program that helps underprivileged and high-achieving students get admitted and through universities across the nation. I am very involved in my school's extracurricular activities, such as Student Government and the Gender-Sexuality Alliance, in which I am president of the latter two clubs.
I also excel in my academics with a 3.94 grade point average, taking two Advanced Placement courses. I am interested in pursuing a career in business and desire to expand my knowledge to the possibilities available to young immigrant women of color.
What I’m Raising Money For
The funds will allow me to attend a pre-college program at a prestigious university, where I will be expanding my knowledge of the business landscape by taking college-credit courses and gaining college experience. The funds will help pay for tuition, room, board, and other expenses related to the program.
I will get the opportunity to step outside my comfort zone by being able to live independently, being fully immersed in the college experience. Not only will I be able to explore complex topics, challenge myself academically, and gain valuable life skills, but I will also have the opportunity to expand my worldview by learning and connecting with students across the globe.

My parents came to the United States hoping to give me a better chance at a brighter future, and I will do everything in my power to make their dreams a reality by pursuing the most challenging and rewarding opportunities that come my way.
