About

Hello! My name is Amy Chen, and I am a junior at Midwood High School. My interest includes public health, language learning, and playing soccer. During my leisure time, I volunteer at the Environmental Sciences Analytical Center where I assist the DEP Green Infrastructure Monitoring Project for over 384 hours. Currently, I am conducting a research related to dendrobaena veneta and lead contamination in urban soils, hoping to contribute an accurate finding to the field of soil research. Additionally, I also emphasize the importance of learning. I attend Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO), which is a program that helps low-income public high school students to and through college.

What I’m Raising Money For

The funds will go towards my participation in my enrichment program at an Ivy League University through SEO Scholars. I will need to fundraise $300 in order to take part in this program. It will cover transportation, room and board, and tuition. The experience will help me gain knowledge and insights into the medical field, while allowing me to become more independent and better prepared for college.

Why You Should Give

I have always been an avid learner and very passionate about the world of medicine. Taking medicine related courses at an Ivy League University will be a huge stepping stone towards my goal of becoming a doctor! One day I hope to be able to serve my community and educate others about their wellbeing. Specifically, I am a first-generation college student, thus this college experience will give me the skills necessary to do well in my future college. I am excited for this summer opportunity, and I would greatly appreciate any donations made to support my academic aspirations!
