About
I'm Tilek Kaipov, a Junior at Millennium Brooklyn High school. I have a strong passion for film and wish to pursue it after college. From films like the Harry Potter series and Whiplash, I continue to make short films and focus on my academics to hopefully attend a prestigious film school with a vast amount of resources and tools. Besides film, I love to play the guitar, spend time with my two younger brothers, and swim.
What I’m Raising Money For
Because I'm a student in SEO Scholars, an 8-year-program that helps underprivileged students with academics, I have the amazing opportunity to apply to an enrichment program that allows me to travel across the world. Although I don't have the final say in which country I go, I'm very excited to be able to step out of my comfort zone and expand my knowledge on the tremendous amount of unique cultures that exist outside of New York City. The enrichment program I'm in will specifically allow me to visit a country like China, Italy, Japan, etc. I'll be staying with a family that volunteered to welcome me in their homes, and will participate in a program specific to the country. These programs will help me acquire new skills and grow as an individual.
Why You Should Give
From the very start of 11th grade, I knew that, although watching countless films feeds my passion, I can't spend my summer on the couch. I knew that I wanted to explore not only a different part of the world, but a different part of myself. As someone who has been in Brooklyn for the majority of my life, it can be easy to forget that there are beautiful customs and cultures beyond mine. Being able to not only learn about these countries through textbooks but by actually being there, I can safely say that my couch won't be my best friend this summer.
With your help, I can get the funding needed to cover any expenses beyond the main trip. With your help, I can be a part of life-changing trip.
