About

My name is Patrick Effah, I am a junior at the Urban Assembly school for applied Math and Science. A dream of mine is to travel the world one day. Through SEO(Sponsors for Educational Opportunity) that dream is a inch closer to becoming reality.

What I’m Raising Money For

This summer, I will be traveling to Guatemala to take part in a two week volunteering adventure. The purpose of my travel is to create activities and lessons to find ways to engage and empower indigenous Guatemalan students on how to make educated environmental choices. Thus I'll be able to gain essential leadership skills to take with me well beyond my two-week adventure. By the time Im ready to leave,I'll be able to look back with pride and confidence on all I've accomplished on my brief two week stay!

Why You Should Give

Conservation is important because it keeps intact the rich history of the Mayan people and allows for outsiders like myself to travel places such as Guatemala and learn about a society unlike my own.Yes, people can learn from history books, but each historian tells history from just one perspective, so there are multiple histories to be told. This is why people need a way to preserve their own history, but that can't happen if land is being destroyed due to unsustainable environmental choices. With your donation I'll be able to do my part in the fight to preserve the rich history of Guatemala
