About
Hello, my name is Ayana Smith. Currently, I'm a high school junior and class of 2019 SEO Scholar. In school, I'm involved in classrooms connections, a small social activist group meant for breaking racial misconceptions; student government, I'm a surveyor who works with all of the number and data; and, I'm a member of the gentlemen and ladies' club where I collaborate with my fellows on organizing school events. On my free time, I busy myself with studying, reading, and playing video games. Additionally, I tutor my younger sister and my fellow juniors in my AP Calculus peers. So yeah, this is just a bit about me :)
What I’m Raising Money For
Thanks to SEO, I'm able to attend a month long academic enrichment program this summer. Through this six-week program, I'll be able to further cultivate my writing skills and take another course in either anthropology or calculus. Moreover, I'll be able to develop more effective communication skills with people in my age group within writing seminars and through recreational time before, after, and between classes. This opportunity will make college one step closer and less surreal.
Why You Should Give
As a first-generation student, having exposure to a college campus is a milestone for both my family and I. This opportunity will prepare me for the academic workload and build my perseverance so that when I attend college, I'm able to thrive. By helping fund this opportunity, I'll be one step closer to accomplishing my goal and fulfilling my families dream.
