About

My name is Melany Barros and I am an SEO Scholar for the class of 2019. I attend the Academy of Finance and Enterprise in Long Island City, Queens and I am interested in pursuing engineering as a major. As a minor, I am open to looking into programs that support causes for the greater good of the people and equality for minority groups. Outside of school, I am dedicated in participating in a religious group at my local parish and this allows me to grow and learn about my cultural principles to put my morals into practice.

What I’m Raising Money For

This summer, I plan to take advantage of an opportunity offered at a local university where I will be learning about business and engineering. This summer experience will allow me to develop the knowledge I need for my future career as a computer engineer. Your donation will allow me to have a well-rounded experience and will provide me insight on the culture and people surrounding the university's local area.

Why You Should Give

Education has always been my first priority in life and I have taken every opportunity granted to me that will allow me to further my knowledge to provide for my local community, specifically, be an influence on the hispanic community. I would like to make my family proud and motivate other hispanics to have the desire to go to college and pursue their passion. With your donation, you will not only support my passion to pursue a major in computer engineering but also bring awareness to how crucial an engineering skillset is today's society, especially in the United States.
