About
My name is Junjie, I'm in 11th grade in a program called SEO ( Sponsors for Educational Opportunities). This is a non-profit program that helps low-income students close the equality gap which I care a lot about because I want to see people like me be treated fairly, and be able to have the same opportunities as someone who was lucky enough to be in a "better school."
What I’m Raising Money For
The money being raised will help all SEO Scholars be able to attend their enrichment programs. Particularly it supports my participation in the experiential field of the enrichment program because I want to learn more about the different communities around the world and how I can change people's perspective and mindset of things. Young people often believe that they can't make a difference. That they don't have the knowledge, skills, or capacity to influence issues like poverty, healthcare, education, or the environment. People often have the mindset that they can't do things because they always have to hesitate to express their feelings, and this is because they are afraid that they would sound dumb and be judged by society. By joining this program I want to teach people that they can make a difference in society and to influence change like poverty, healthcare, education, and their environment. This program will help me explore the complex challenges that affects our communities, and develop the knowledge, experience and leadership skills they need to make a positive impact on the world.
Why You Should Give
Throughout my lifetime, I've seen issues like pollution that lacks attention. I know pollution effects the lower class the most because they don't have much of an option. People like me as they grow up to become adults shouldn't have to go through more to prove that they are capable of making change and taking a leadership role. Participating in this program will bring me one step closer to making the change I envision.

Junjie, As your mentor, I am lucky to say I have learnt more from you then I can pass on in advice. Our time together has been a highlight of mine months with you. I love how we brainstorm ideas. I hope I did a a job as your sounding board. We are alike in many ways. You remind me of the immigrant challenge of starting with little, knowing you are behind by circumstances but always fighting to make it. Keep up the good work and have a fun summer! Stay in touch.
