About
My name is Sumaiya Ahmed and I am a Junior at Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics. I am a diligent and hardworking student who enjoys Science and English. Although I work well independently, working in groups allows me to fuse my ideas with other individuals. I attend an after-school program, Sponsors for Educational Opportunities which allows me to work well with low-income students.
What I’m Raising Money For
I hope to attend a six week program in the summer shadowing a doctor in a hospital in New York City. This program is an opportunity for underrepresented and/or economically disadvantaged high school and college students to be exposed to a variety of careers in the health field. This program will help me gain experience in the medical field, and I hope it will contribute to my goal of attending a prestigious medical school and eventually becoming a surgeon in the future.
Why You Should Give
I aspire to become a surgeon in the future and this contribution will help me become one step closer to achieving my goals. I want to follow in the footsteps of young women of color who have come before me and I would like like to leave my mark on those who come after.
