About
My name is Michael Tran, and I currently attend Manhattan Hunter Science High School. I'm an active member of this community, as I have developed relationships with both my peers and teachers as President of Student Council. I am greatly interested in the arts, specifically, fashion, as well as, business particularly marketing and advertisement. I also am part of another college-ready community known as, SEO Scholars, which calls for 720+ hours of dedication to extra schooling on Saturdays, weekdays, and summers as well. This opportunity has allowed me to cultivate closer bonds, more skills, and greater amounts to access of networking. Being an open-minded individual, I am so interested in exploring the world and looking at society in a multi-perspective due to the exposure of different cultures.
What I’m Raising Money For
This summer, I have the most amazing opportunity to travel to Italy, where I will experience a new culture, something I've never had a chance of learning about before. I will be learning Italian survival skills through the lens of interaction with the communities in Rome, Venice, and Treviso, and I will also experience a different culture and lifestyle of a completely different environment. I'll travel all across Italy to experience various aspects of Italian culture, as well as, the cross between Croatian and Slovenian culture in a Italian aspect. This opportunity is important to me because I'll be illuminated about a culture outside of the bubble I live in, something outside of New York.
Why You Should Give
Contributing to my enrichment program will help me gain an experience that will set me apart from other applicants applying to college. It's a privilege for me to experience the world in a different lens, which will help shape my perception of other cultures, interests, and myself. This makes me realize that by experiencing the world at such a young age, I will gain a perspective outside of the one I already know. I am fond of learning about Italy and the ancient architecture and art that has shaped the civilization it has become today. With your generosity, I will be able to immerse myself in a beautiful, yet fascinating world. In addition, your funds won't just help me, but it'll help all the other 200 scholars who have the same hopes, and dreams as I do, which is to lower the academic equity gap through the pursuit of access to a higher level of education. This opportunity in the Summer provides us, the scholars with a chance to experience independence and a taste of the outside world as it gives us a perspective on how we can pursue our dreams to the fullest extent and to the best of our ability.
