About

My name is Evelyn Blandino. I'm a Junior at Marble Hill School for International Studies. I'm currently enrolled in a program called Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO). In this program, I have attended SAT prep classes since my freshman year on Saturdays; I also have a mentor who is there for me when I need her. I'm also interested in STEM, film and photography.

What I’m Raising Money For

I'm raising money for a college prep program, where I'll be able to get a taste of college life. I'll be living in a college dorm, taking college classes with college professors, and attending workshops to help me with the college application process. In these workshops, I'll be working on my personal statement, as well as other aspects of the college application. Coming from a family where no one has attended or graduated from college, this will help me become more prepared for and guarantee my success in college. Along with that, this program will help me meet new people, broaden my network and skills, and allow me to be independent for the first time.

Why You Should Give

By being able to do this program, I'll be more prepared for what college will be like. I'll be accustomed to what college life will be like and be independent for the first time, which can help me become more prepared for life after college as well. Through this program, I'll be able to explore my interests because I'll get to take college classes that I pick. By doing that, I'll be able to expand my knowledge on things I'm interested in. Lastly, being able to do this program will allow me to set an example for my little sister, who also wants to go to college. Even though I'm not the oldest, if I'm the first to attend college, I can share my knowledge with her, so that she's more prepared for college.
