About
My name is Karla Sterrett. I live in Bronx, New York. I am currently a Junior at Manhattan Village Academy. I have a passion for exploring new places and taking risks that will not only change my point of view on life but understand the young woman I want to become.
What I’m Raising Money For
I am raising money to be able to backpack in the hidden gem,Alaska and experience the wonders of the world. I also want to experience nature in its raw form and take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity. Since I was born and raised in New York, I never really got the chance to be nature and admire its beauty. In fact, the only opportunity where I would be able to do this is at Central Park but I know that it doesn’t compare to beauty of Alaska.
Why You Should Give
Being able to go on this excursion and experience a truly once in a lifetime opportunity will not only shape my identity, but change my perspective on life. Since I’m a junior in high school, going to Alaska will set me apart from other applicants when applying to college. But most importantly, I will have an understanding of how serious global warming is and see the effects it has on the environment. I would be eternally grateful for any amount of money to reach my goal ! I don’t want to be deprived of this opportunity that will change the individual I am today!
