About
My name is Chelsea Laraque, a seventeen year old Haitian American girl attending High School for Environmental Studies. I'm currently in the SEO Scholars program. I joined SEO in hopes of coming out of my shell and asserting myself in a classroom setting. I plan to attend a four year college in the fall of 2020 and have a career in the business field.
What I’m Raising Money For
I'm raising money to be able to attend a study abroad program to Japan. As a low-income young adult who hasn't been outside of New York City, the experience to travel to Japan will provide me with the opportunity to immerse myself in a culture that I wouldn't have the chance to otherwise. I will not only be able to learn Japanese on my trip, but get to know locals, build strong bonds with peers, build networking skills, and educate myself on aspects of Japanese culture that the media often doesn't see.
Why You Should Give
The money you donate will go towards my travel expenses. Additionally, it will go towards building my confidence, independence, and being able to adapt in a foreign environment will help me with the valuable skills needed for college and beyond.

Update from Chelsea Laraque
Words can't even express how happy I am for your donation. Thank you so much to every one that donated to my fundraiser. I have received double the amount of my fundraiser's goal and I am still in shock. SEO has impacted my life by believing in my dreams and my future. All of you who donated have impacted me as well. Because of your donation, I will be able to fund my study abroad to Japan. I will work my hardest to have the best trip possible for you all. Thank you again for your donation! Wish you the best, Chelsea
