About

My name is Sokhnadiarra Ndiaye, and I am a junior in Brooklyn College Academy High School. I love public speaking, meeting new people, and advocating on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves.

What I’m Raising Money For

I am part of a program called "SEO Scholars," which helps students from low-income backgrounds get into and through college. Over the 2019 summer, I will be going to Spain as part of the enrichment portion of the program. There, I will be able to meet new people, learn a new language, and immerse myself in a new place and culture.

Why You Should Give

Going to Spain would be an amazing opportunity because I would get to experience culture outside of what I am used to. I have lived in the U.S for quite a while now (I was raised in Senegal), and having the chance to go to a different country and immersing myself in it would give me an insight on what the life of an immigrant is like. Also, I would love to see what race is like in other countries. In America, people are very conscious of race, and I want to see if when I walk those streets in Spain, would I be regarded as another human, or would the color of my skin be the first thing they notice about me.
