About

My name is Emily Duran Garcia and I attend Manhattan Hunter Science High School. My favorite classes are biology, chemistry, and physics. My desire for knowledge has pushed me to learn languages such as mandarin and explore new cultures.

What I’m Raising Money For

This summer, I have been nominated to travel to China to study environmental pollution. During my trip, I will be staying with a host family which will expand my knowledge of mandarin and Chinese culture. The money raised will support me to reach this endeavor. Your appreciated support will contribute to expenses such as airfare, not covered by scholarship. Please feel free to share this page with others too!

Why You Should Give

We have been too careless with the Earth which is evident in the disturbing amounts of pollution in the air, land, and water. We only have one home-- planet Earth. If we continue to ignore the obvious signs of climate change, what will we give to future generations? During my trip to China, I will learn more about the importance of ecological preservation and explore solutions by meeting with Chinese students, biologists, professors, and environmentalists. The knowledge and experience I will gain from this program will equip me with the power to incite environmental change and enable me to give a healthier Earth to those that come after me.
