About

My name is Donte Jones-Payne, I am a junior at the Eagle Academy for Young Men of Harlem, and I enjoy playing baseball and feeding my intellectual curiosity. At my school I keep busy by participating in student government and extra curriculars such as varsity baseball, Black and Latino Men in Medicine (BLMIM), and Sponsors For Educational Opportunity(SEO).

What I’m Raising Money For

This summer I will be partaking in an academic enrichment program in Rochester, NY that will help me understand the college lifestyle. While still await acceptance into this program, I know I will be able to benefit from it. For example, developing independence, formulating a new mindset about the adult world, and progressing further in my study of career.

Why You Should Give

I have worked extremely hard throughout my entire academic career so that my parents don't have to pay thousands of dollars to send me away for college. I want to set an example for my younger brothers to show them a minority from a small quiet town can compete with the best. Being in this program can give me a head-start on being able to do college level work. Having this transformative summer experience can boost my chsnces of succeeding more in college, which can lead me on a better path for an amazing carrer.
