About
My name is Jalen Wilson and I am a junior at the NYC iSchool. Growing up in the Bronx, I spent a lot of time playing video games and experimenting with new technology. Since a young age, I've always been fascinated with the technological skills and knowledge needed to produce computer programs. That's why I've decided to spend this summer participating in a non-profit computer science program for young men of color.
What I’m Raising Money For
Your generous donation would allow me to gain the skills necessary to succeed in a field that typically under represents minorities and people of color. Over the course of 6-weeks, I'm looking to develop my entrepreneurial mindset, build the tools I need to succeed in a technological world and hopefully create new economic opportunities for myself in the future.
Why You Should Give
By giving, you're increasing STEM education and professional access for minority communities. These opportunities are vital not only to these marginalized communities and the tech sector, but they're also essential to the US economy as a whole. The skills I gain from this computer science program will equip me to use them in my everyday life, such as helping my teachers automate some of their mundane tasks. Additionally, I plan to give back to the community by helping other black and Latino students navigate their entry into the STEM world.
