About
My name is Franchesca Perez and I am a junior at Central Park East High School, as well as an SEO Scholar of the Class of 2020. I really love reading, K-pop, helping others, and learning about new cultures. Education is something I really value because I know it will help me succeed in life and get my family out of their current conditions of being low income. All in all, I am a student looking for new ways to succeed and improve my community.
What I’m Raising Money For
This summer I will be traveling to South Africa for 3 weeks in order to broaden my leadership skills and learn about new cultures outside of my community. When I arrive I visiting the Apartheid museum, Nelson Mandela's home, and the prison on Robin Island where Nelson Mandela was held. I will also be walking the route of the July 16, 1976 student uprising in Soweto and in the end enjoy down time with locals.
Why You Should Give
This opportunity is very important to me because coming from a low income family and being an underserved NYC public high school student, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity that not many others in the same estate get to experience. By contributing towards funding this trip you will not only be helping me during my activities, but you will also be helping future students in the SEO Scholars Program, like myself, be able to earn these same experiences that will also help them grow as an individual.
