About

We are gearing up for our biggest fundraiser of the season! The funds raised from this event will allow my team and I to have a successful season this year. This fundraiser is an event for our rowers and coxswains, when they team up to race against each other on erg/rowing machines. Ergs are used during cold months and days when the weather does not allow rowing practice on the water, and are key to workouts and fitness preparation.

What I’m Raising Money For

Each year, our team uses funds to attend multiple local regattas and compete with other high school teams, maintain and purchase new equipment, and generally keep our boats and team afloat. Since West Potomac & FCPS don't fund school crew teams, fundraising is a big role is how our team functions!

Why You Should Give

Crew is a unique experience for high schools students that teaches teamwork, leadership and life skills. With joining the team my freshman year I have met so many new people that create such a fun environment, which allows our boats to have such good teamwork. Crew has allowed me to find a sport that look forward to racing and enjoy going to. Crew is also an expensive sport and all of our funds come from athlete fees, fundraisers and donations. Crew does not receive finical support from the school or county because it is designated as a "club" sport, although we are a varsity sport and follow state and county rules and regulations as required. Every year our team attends the biggest high school regatta called "Stotesbury," which is so fun and a great experience. The cost to attend this regatta is large, so any donations will help with that and all other regattas this season.
