About
I am the coach of the LHHS Mock Trial Team. They are a unique group of extremely hard working kids. Last year, we won at both the Dallas District level and the Regional Semi-Finals and then won the Final Round of the Regional 10 competition. Then we placed 9th in State!!! This year, we are focused on placing in the top 4 in State!
What I’m Raising Money For
I am currently working hard to raise money for our team to participate in the very prestigious, invitation only Empire Mock Trial Competition. We attended last year and it is, by far, the best way for our team to gain the valuable experience we need to rank in state. We will use the money raised for costs associated with scrimmages and, hopefully, we will raise enough to attend the competition in San Francisco in November.
Why You Should Give
Lake Highlands High is a Title I school. Our mock trial team (and our school) do not have the same resources as the teams that we compete against. Many, if not most, of the teams competing at the state level also compete in the Empire Mock Trial Competition. Participating in the Empire Competition is, by far, the best way for our team to obtain the valuable experience that we need to reach our goal of ranking in state. I'd love for you to follow our team's progress or pass this on to your friends or business contacts who might be interested in either sponsoring us or helping spread the word about my fundraiser. I am the Coach of the Lake Highlands Mock Trial Team. They are a unique group of extremely hard working kids. Last year, we won at the RISD district level, the Dallas Regional level and placed 9th at State. This year, we are focused on placing in the top 4 at state. However, Lake Highlands is a Title I school. We do not have the same resources that the teams that we compete against. Many, if not most, of the teams competing at the state level also compete in the Empire Mock Trial Competition. It is a very prestigious, invitation only competition that we were invited to attend this year. We attended last year and it is, by far, the best way for our team to gain the valuable experience we need to make it to state. You have previously been contacted by one of our team members but I wanted to reach out personally and ask for your support. These kids have worked super hard to raise funds (and they have raised over $18K) it is unlikely that they can raise the full $32K by the competition--especially with the amount of time they spend in school and the practice time that it will take to prepare for the competition.
